Background
Jay Barrett, DVM, DACT is a native of southwest Georgia. He graduated veterinary school from the University of Georgia in 2008. After a brief time in private practice, he accepted a position at Auburn University as a clinical fellow in the Animal Health and Performance Program, working with athletic and explosives detection canines.
In 2014 he decided to return home to practice in the Redhills region of South Georgia and North Florida, where he lives with his wife Kelly (also a veterinarian) and their three children (Crawford, Carson, and Attaline).
Dr. Barrett enjoys many facets of veterinary medicine and has worked in small and mixed animal practice including general, emergent, and urgent care practice.
In 2021, Dr. Barrett completed the necessary requirements and gained Diplomate status in the American College of Theriogenologists. In his spare time, Dr. Barrett is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys spending time with his family on their farm.
